Kaylen and Seth flew in from the midwest to have their Lake Crescent elopement one moody Saturday in late October. The colors of the leaves were unlike anything I’d experienced and the off and on rainy weather only added to the romance and intimate vibe of the day. Olympic National Park is one of the National Parks that I frequent most throughout the year, and this specific day made me feel like every Lake Crescent elopement needs to take place in October.

Kaylen reached out to me about a year and a half in advance for their elopement, and the planning commenced immediately! She had an idea as to where she wanted their Lake Crescent elopement to be, and with my knowledge of the area, we quickly came to agree on the perfect spot. In the moss, fallen logs, and giant ferns that make of that region of Olympic National Park, their ceremony spot awaited! We created a timeline (see below!) to fit their day that involved getting ready photos, photos around the Airbnb, ceremony, couple’s photos, and then cake back at their bnb! I brought clear umbrellas and lanterns to factor in the ever-shifting weather of the peninsula in October, and we went into this Lake Crescent elopement day with a solid plan in place. It’s important when you’re planning your own elopement that your photographer is not only familiar with the area, but is confident with the weather patterns and lighting for the time of year too! It’s always a good idea to check out the National Park website for road closures and the most up to date information too!

After taking some time at the Airbnb to allow for a slow morning of getting ready and taking photos on the stunning property, it was time to pack up and head to the lake! I gave them space as they exchanged vows, then pronounced them as husband and wife (I’m ordained, and this is something I offer free of charge to all of my couples who need it!), before spending an hour or so running around Lake Crescent. We spent some time in the forest, on the dock, running around the lake shore, and even were visited by a deer before we headed back to the Airbnb! They did their first dance under the gazebo (much like Bella and Edward at prom) and then we cut the cake before I let them enjoy the rest of their Lake Crescent elopement day!
