Before it turned to winter and my busy season came to close, I had a few ideas I wanted to bring to fruition so I posted a model call on my Instagram. MJ ended up reaching out, letting me know that she was interested in scheduling a session for her and her boyfriend. I sent over a Pinterest board of the vision I had: timeless, moody east coast, old money sort of vibe. I wanted it to look like we were in the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard. MJ let me know that they had access to a classic Jaguar, and I just knew we were a match made in heaven. Sure enough, this Oregon Coast couples session was everything I dreamed of and more.
When MJ and Josh pulled up to our meeting spot on the Oregon Coast, I immediately knew they were a vibe and this was going to be a blast of a session. They were bubbly, full of life, and such a great energy. Like a charisma that makes you want to be around them and get to know them more. As we began to shoot I could just feel the love between them: the way they seemed to always be touching in some form, always aware of where the other person was. MJ is originally from the east coast, Josh from the UK, so we spent time talking about how they met, where they’re from, and just got to know each other. My favorite thing about doing couple sessions like these? When we instantly connect and I feel like we’re just friends hanging out. This session felt timeless, classic, and straight out of a movie.
Before my session with any couple, I’m always checking the weather forecast a week or so ahead of time and every day beforehand, especially in the winter. I do this because I know some people are wary of the rain during the Pacific Northwest winter months, and also because I know weather has such an impact on the mood of the session. What did the forecast have in store for this Oregon Coast couples session? Rain, and lots of it.
While I’m not scared of some sprinkles, I always let my couples know their options if they want to reschedule. Because MJ and Josh are top tier and some of the most lowkey people I’ve met, they were still down for their session even if wild winter rain was on the forecast. Their session is prime example of why you shouldn’t be scared if it might get a little wet! Look at how the rain made their session moody, romantic, dare I say….steamy? Trust your photographer (aka, me!) and if they’re down for the ride, you should be too! Just bring towels and maybe a couple changes of clothes.
My favorite thing is the sense of romance, moodiness, and cinema these photos give. When you look at your photos, how do you want them to make you feel inside? If this resonates with you, then let’s connect! You can do so by filling out my Contact Form, and I’ll get back to you within 48 hours so we can get the planning started to tell your love story in an epic manner. Want to see some more adventures? Rainy shoot played out beautifully, the fog ads an extra layer of mood. Such a sunning couple! I love your photography style.
