One random Friday in July I decided to respond to a Facebook post for a local bride looking for someone to do their engagement photos that Monday- only three days away. They had been ghosted by the initial photographer they were scheduled with, had already taken the time off work to have the photos done, and were desperately hoping someone would be able available to help them out so it wasn’t a lost day of PTO. Enter the knight-in-shining-armor, Kier. I sent her a message, they liked my portfolio, decided to take a leap with me, so I took them to one of my secret spots in the Columbia River Gorge that not many people go to. When I say legitimate magic happened during our hour and a half together, boy I’m not joking. We hit it off immediately and just look at how this engagement session turned out.
K and G are originally from the east coast and have fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest (I mean, can you blame them?!). They are so at ease and comfortable together, it made our session fly by and I walked away thinking “wow, I want to be besties with them!” I mean I love all my engagement sessions, but these two just really touched my heart. We started off at secluded park in the Columbia River Gorge, before heading further east where we had sweeping views of the cliffs and dramatic landscape that make the Gorge so breathtaking.
The sun was glowing and golden hour started to hit as we made our way to a field section of the park. We passed wildflowers and took every photo op that we could. The wildflowers can be short lived in Oregon and Washington, depending on the rain and heat we have during the summer. These beauties lasted just about three days after K and G’s session, so I’m super happy we went when we did! Golden hour engagement session or wildflower engagement session? They got both!
Just look at them! My favorite thing is when couples start off with “we’ve never done this before” or “we’re super awkward,” because they end up just being stunning. You don’t have to be a model to have beautiful photos, you just gotta love the person you’re doing them with.
We ended our little golden hour engagement session along the river, with a perfect little champagne spray as the gorge glowed behind these lovebirds.
